As described on the home page for English Movies, in the 1920s through the mid 1940s the movie industry was dominated by a few big studios in what is known as the Studio Era. This was followed by the Post-Studio Era which started in the 1940s and continued into the 1950s. This section covers the films of many of the female stars of these two eras, which I have combined into a period I call ‘Classic Hollywood’.
The incredibly talented and prolific artistes of this period collectively produced an extraordinary collection of performances which will endure for a long time to come.
