The latter part of the Golden Age of Hindi Movies saw the debut of many talented actors, along with the emergence of two superstars of Hindi Cinema who rose to unprecedented popularity levels: Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan.  Of these two, Rajesh Khanna had a meteoric rise to superstardom which was relatively short-lived (1969-1973), while Amitabh Bachchan’s reign at the top beginning in 1973 was much more long-lived (in fact, his huge popularity endures to this day).

Besides these two superstars, there were many other leading men who made their debut during this period.  Those who started their careers in the 1960s were Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Manoj Kumar, Rishi Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, Shashi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna.  In the 1970s, two other actors made their mark in what became known as Parallel Cinema: Amol Palekar and Naseeruddin Shah.

This prolific and versatile group of actors collectively created an extraordinary collection of high-quality Hindi movies movies which will last through the ages.  The links above (listed in alphabetical order) will take you to the collected works of these artistes.  Other actors who made their debut in the early part of the Golden Age (1949-1960) are covered in a companion section.
