Commentary:
The era of Modern Bollywood started in the mid-2000s and was in full swing in the 2010s and beyond. A new wave of young talent emerged during this period, augmenting (and sometimes surpassing) the Young Turks of the Revival Period. Meanwhile, the world had also changed. Multiplexes became the norm for watching the movies in the theater, and the overseas market for Indian films became larger than the Indian market. With the proliferation of smart phones and high-speed streaming, the primary means of watching Hindi films at home moved from DVDs to the internet.
With all these changes, there is a new, corporate model of making and distributing Hindi movies, which makes today’s Bollywood fare very different from the Hindi films of yesteryear. Fortunately, the new kids on the block have adapted well to this model and they have thrived in the new environment. This newly established squad of talented performers and filmmakers included the following:

- [Female stars] Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Sonam Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu
- [Producers/Directors] Kabir Khan, Meghna Gulzar, Mohit Suri, Neeraj Pandey, Nitesh Tiwari, Raj Kumar Gupta, Zoya Akhtar.
The above artistes and creators have made Bollywood a force to be reckoned with across the globe, in terms of both the creative content and the technical quality of its films.
