This is a list of notable Hindi songs from my favorite albums of the 1950s (with GEMs highlighted).  Note that the list is sortable by each column. (Multiple levels of sorting are possible by sorting more than one column in succession, from lowest to highest.)

As with all selections on this website, choosing the best Hindi-song albums is a highly subjective exercise. However, I tried to apply some objective criteria to the selections: the album should have 5+ notable songs with 2+ GEMs or 6+ notable songs with at least 1 GEM. Beyond these minimum criteria, it was of course my personal preferences which guided the selections. I’m pretty sure you will find many of your own favorites on the list!

There are 19 albums from the 1940s that made the list. In alphabetical order, they are: Aah, Aar Paar, Albela, Anari, Anarkali, Awara, Baiju Bawra, Basant Bahar, C.I.D., Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Chori Chori, Madhumati, Nagin, Nau Do Gyarah, Naya Daur, Pyaasa, Shree 420, Sujata and Tumsa Nahin Dekha.
