The publication history of Two-Gun Kid with Marvel Comics spans several decades.  The character first appeared in 1948, during the days of Timely Comics, which eventually evolved into Marvel Comics.  Two-Gun Kid received his own series in the 1950s and has been a prominent figure in Marvel’s Western comic book line ever since.  The character was completely revamped in 1962 with a new name (Matt Hawk) and identity, and the previous character called Two-Gun Kid (Clay Harder) is now largely forgotten.

Many writers and artists contributed to the adventures of Two-Gun Kid, leaving their mark on the series.  Foremost among these was Stan Lee, the co-creator of many iconic Marvel characters, who played a significant role in shaping the character in the early days.  Stan Lee was also instrumental in later rebooting the Two-Gun Kid character in collaboration with legendary Marvel artist Jack Kirby.  Additionally, accomplished comic-book creators such as writer/artist Larry Lieber and artist Dick Ayers added their storytelling expertise to the character’s tales.  Their dynamic artwork has captured the excitement and spirit of the Old West, enhancing the action-packed adventures of Two-Gun Kid and contributing to the character’s enduring popularity within the Marvel Universe.
