Silver-Age Superman Family Annuals & Giants (Collected Reprints)

Among the many innovations that Mort Weisinger introduced in the early 1960s were the Superman Annuals and Giants, with the intent of recapping the previous Superman mythology for the benefit of newer readers (however, they were a hit with longtime readers as well).  Until 1968, these Giants were 80 pages long; then in 1969, they were reduced to 64 pages.  Most of these giants had a theme, and with one exception (the Legion origin story in Superboy #147) the stories inside them were all reprints.  The Superman Annuals and Giants were so popular that they were also extended to other DC characters such as Batman, the Flash and the Justice League of America.

Note: Although the Silver Age ended in 1970 with Mort Weisinger’s retirement, the 64-page Giants continued for one more year, so I have included the issues from 1971 as well.
