From Beyond the Unknown, which debuted in 1969, was an anthology reprint series by DC Comics that celebrated the diverse and captivating sci-fi stories from the company’s vast archives.  The comic books featured a curated selection of sci-fi stories from various DC titles like Strange Adventures and Mystery in Space that had been published in the 1950s and early 1960s.  The series served as a treasure trove for sci-fi comic fans, reintroducing classic tales of science fiction mixed with mystery and adventure to a new generation of readers.  These reprints exemplified the imaginative storytelling and engaging themes that defined the early days of comic-book science fiction.

From Beyond the Unknown showcased the exceptional artwork and writing which prevailed during this period of DC’s history.  The reprinted stories contained the work of notable contributors such as writers Gardner Fox and John Broome and artists Carmine Infantino and Murphy Anderson.  The series also featured freshly drawn cover art which captured the essence of the reprinted stories in a striking way.  (In a few cases, some original stories were also printed, but this was a rare occurrence.)  Despite its relatively short lifespan of five years, From Beyond the Unknown became a favorite of sci-fi comic lovers, preserving and reintroducing timeless stories from DC’s extensive catalog and rekindling the interest in comic-book science fiction which had started in the early 1950s.
