This is a list of Walt Disney’s Comics & Stories published by Gold Key (with GEMs highlighted).  The Gold Key issues were preceded as well as followed by other comic brands (Dell and Whitman) which featured the same character, and these other comics are also included in the list.  For each comic listed, there are links to the following: (a) Wiki page (from the Grand Comics Database, or GCD), (b) e-book (available upon request), and (c) More info on each comic (via optional posts by various contributors).  [Note: In some cases where there is a set of consecutive issues listed as one entry, the Wiki link takes you to the first issue in the set, and the ‘Next Issue’ link will take you to the later issues.]

Please note that the list is sortable by each column. (Multiple levels of sorting are possible by sorting more than one column in succession, from lowest to highest.)  You can also do an instant filtering of the table by entering a character string in the ‘Search’ field.

Walt Disney Comics and Stories is one of the longest-running comic book series in history, first published by Dell Comics in 1940.  The series continued to be published by Dell Comics until 1962, when the license to the title was acquired by Gold Key Comics.  Gold Key continued to publish Walt Disney Comics & Stories until 1984 (the last few issues being published under the Whitman brand), bringing the total number of issues to more than 500.  (Note that the WD C&S comic books officially used a different numbering system with the volume and serial number, but modern records have adopted the sequential numbering system which I have used in my list.)

The WD C&S series quickly became one of the most popular Disney comics, featuring a variety of characters from the Disney universe.  The comics were known for their colorful and whimsical artwork, as well as their witty and humorous stories.  Notable artists and writers who contributed to the series include Carl Barks, who is considered one of the most influential Disney comic book creators of all time, as well as Tony Strobl and Paul Murry, two other regular artists who illustrated a large number of Disney comic books.

While Walt Disney Comics & Stories featured many of the most popular Disney characters, such as Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse, the series also introduced new characters to the Disney universe.  One of these characters was Scamp, the son of Lady and the Tramp (form the famous animated film), who made his first appearance in issue #31 of the series.  Other characters who appeared in the series include Chip ‘n’ Dale, Goofy, Pluto, and Scrooge McDuck, among many others.  Today, Walt Disney Comics & Stories is considered a classic in the world of comic books and has played an important role in the history of the Disney universe.  A cover gallery of WD C&S comics can be found here.
