Tweety & Sylvester is a classic Looney Tunes series that features the little bird Tweety and the cat Sylvester engaged in a never-ending game of cat and bird. They made the comic-book debut in Four Color Comics in 1952 and shortly thereafter got their own Dell title. The Dell series continued until 1962, at which point the title was picked up by Gold Key Comics. The Gold Key series continued until 1984 (the last few being published under the Whitman brand) and continued the tradition of humorous stories featuring Tweety and Sylvester engaged in their never-ending feud.
Notable artists who worked on the series included Tony Strobl and Fred Abranz. Throughout both the Dell and Gold Key series, Tweety and Sylvester were often accompanied by supporting characters such as Granny and Hector the Bulldog. These characters would often become involved in Tweety and Sylvester’s wacky adventures, either as helpers or as sources of comic relief. Overall, the Tweety and Sylvester comics have been a beloved part of the Looney Tunes franchise’s history and have provided readers with countless laughs and heartwarming moments over the years.
