Beep Beep the Road Runner is a popular character from the Looney Tunes universe, known for his lightning-fast speed and his ongoing feud with Wile E. Coyote.  In the world of comics, Beep Beep made his debut as a supporting character in Bugs Bunny Vacation Funnies, followed by his own series of adventures in Four Color Comics, and eventually getting his own title in the Dell Comics series in 1960.  After the Dell series ended, Gold Key Comics picked up the Beep Beep comic books and began publishing their own stories featuring the character in a variety of humorous situations with Wile E. Coyote. The Gold Key series lasted until 1984 (the last few issues being published under the Whitman brand) and continued the tradition of humorous adventures featuring Beep Beep and his family versus Wile E. Coyote.

During the 1950s and most of the 1960s, the primary artists on the Beep Beep comic books were Pete Alvarado and Phil DeLara; then for a few years the comics consisted mainly of reprints of the Dell stories.  Starting in late 1969, new stories began to appear, with Jack Manning becoming the principal artist for the title.  Notable writers who worked on the series included Carl Fallberg and Don Christensen.

Throughout both the Dell and Gold Key series, Beep Beep was often accompanied by supporting characters from the Looney Tunes universe, such as Elmer Fudd.  These characters would often become involved in Beep Beep’s adventures, whether as an antagonist or a hapless bystander.  Overall, the Beep Beep comics have been a fun and entertaining way for fans of the character to enjoy new stories and adventures, and they continue to be a beloved part of the Road Runner’s history.  A cover gallery of Beep Beep comics can be found here.
