Little Lulu is a classic comic book character who first appeared in the pages of the Saturday Evening Post in 1935 and later made her way into comic books.  Lulu made her comic-book debut in the Dell publication Four Color Comics in 1945, and shortly thereafter graduated to having her own Dell comic title.  The series continued until 1962, featuring the mischievous and clever Lulu Moppet in a variety of comedic adventures.  After the Dell series ended, Gold Key Comics picked up the Little Lulu title and began publishing their own comics featuring the character.  The Gold Key series continued until 1983 (the last few being published under the Whitman brand) and featured new and reprinted stories featuring Little Lulu and her friends.

The primary creative force responsible for developing the Little Lulu character was John Stanley, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in comic book history.  Stanley wrote and illustrated most of the Little Lulu stories for the first couple of decades, but started handing off the art duties to Irving Tripp in the late 1950s.  Throughout both the Dell and Gold Key series, Little Lulu was often accompanied by supporting characters such as Tubby and Annie Inch.  These characters would often become involved in Lulu’s wacky adventures, either as helpers or as sources of comic relief.  Overall, the Little Lulu comics have been a beloved part of the franchise’s history and have provided readers with countless laughs and heartwarming moments over the years.  A cover gallery of Little Lulu comics can be found here.
