This was one of the Super Library comic series published by Fleetway, which at 128 pages were double the length of the regular British comics. Among these, the Stupendous series was one of my two favorites (the other being the Secret Agent series). The comics alternately featured two iconic superheroes, Steel Claw and the Spider, who leaped off the pages with their extraordinary powers and heroic exploits. As with all Fleetway publications, the writing and artwork were of consistently high quality, and the extra-long comic book allowed the creators to flesh out the story and make it almost the length of a novel, which afforded twice the reading pleasure as the regular comic books. The Fleetway Super Library Stupendous series has an enduring legacy as one of the few superhero titles among British comics published in the 1960s.
