This is a list of notable plays written by W. Somerset Maugham (with GEMs highlighted). Maugham was one of the most successful playwrights in the first half of the 20th century. He was also one of the first authors to make significant money from screenplays adapted from his stories. In addition to his work in the theater and movies, Maugham was a master of novels and short stories: his works in these categories are each listed in a separate section. Collectively, Maugham’s novels, short stories and plays constitute an amazing body of work spanning a period of over 50 years.
