This is a selection of Aesop’s Fables (with GEMs highlighted).  The list below includes links for several associated items which may be available online for each book: (a) Wikipedia page, (b) e-book, and (c) audiobook.  There is also a column called “More info” with links to optional posts on each book.

Aesop’s Fables are among the earliest short stories known to mankind.  These pithy tales, each ending with a moral, are attributed to Aesop, a slave and storyteller who lived around the sixth or seventh century BC.  Although numerous versions of these fables have been transmitted orally and through print since the time they originated, most of these versions contain elements of nuance and irony and are more targeted to adults than to children.  The links I have provided for my 150 selected stories are from two books specifically targeted to children:
