Classics Illustrated Junior was launched in 1953 as a spinoff of the main Classics Illustrated series. It is probably the best known and my personal favorite of all the Classics Illustrated spinoffs. This Junior series was aimed at children and adapted classic fairy tales and fables for a younger audience. One of the characteristic features of the Junior series was its vibrant and colorful artwork, which made the stories more accessible and engaging for young readers. Some notable artists who worked on the Junior series were William A. Walsh, Dik Browne, Lin Streeter, Pete Costanza and Mike Sekowsky.
